I'm still figuring out how to do this blog!
My husband made a cornhole game for my daughter. Its a beanbag game, that you toss bags (that are filled with corn) into the hole. The game is supposed to be 70 ft from where you toss the bag. If you have a friend with a corn hole, you compete as teams.
I made a wreath for a co-worker. She saw the star shaped wreath in my Martha Stewart magazine, said "Can you make that for me." I did,my first evergreen wreath ever to make! One area was a little too thick, but toward the end i was getting the hang of it.
I stitched the sampler for my oldest daughter. The navtivity scene is made from wool felt. I had the directions, cut out each individual peace, and made the hanging piece that they are placed on. I made a pillow for my stepmom that I forgot to take a picture of it when she opened it. I messed up on the directions,so I want to make another one,the way its supposed to look. I cut part of the pillow 2 1/2 inces too short,so i had to adjust the size, and the pillow is smaller than it was designed to be. Everyone liked their gifts. My daughter Laura made some gifts she saw on the SYTC blog, they turned out well. Its so nice to recieve something homemade. she also made us some cinamon-raisen bread, which i put in the freezer for now!
I hope your Christmas was full of blessings. Mine was wonderful, spent with family.

Completed craft room.

I bought this picture while in Amish country.I also bought the frame, and made this arrangement.

My bookcase, full of scrapbook supplies. I gave my daughter 2 boxes full of craft supplies!

The room is finished.Hubby was a trooper, the hardwood floor (actually laminate flooring) was a bit of a challenge. He persevered and installed it! The one thing that I might rearrange is the clock, and little bulletin board. I measured, put in the nails, andthen somehow they were too close. Oh well. I had a brilliant idea for my picture board. I bought some coarkboard squares,a frame and some foam board. I put it all together for an upgraded bulletin board! I love this room! Its quite the transformation. It had the original tan builders paint on it,gray carpet, and a cluttered mess. My next project is a sewing project,so I need to get moving! Christmas is closing in on me,and I have some sewing projects to get done.

Work being done on craft room.

This is my daughters old bedroom. Currently it is storing all my craft supplies, and furniture.
The bookcase, table, and end table all will return to my craft room, which use to be my sons room. All the furniture is second hand. There use to be a consignment shop in town, where I bought the kitchen table, and bookcase. The end table or maybe it was a dry sink? I bought at a garage sale. It had been painted a bright blue, then i spray painted it tan,and now its white! The stuff you see on the right side is mostly photo albums, scrapbooks, and supplies for scrapbooking.I'm trying to think of a way to organize everything in a neat and orderly fashion.I saw at Lowes canvas brown bins, with blue trim.I thought I might buy those to store some things inside. I might buy some rectangular willow baskets to put the scrapbooks in. I'm not too sure how I'm going to do this.

My husband installed the chair rail today. While he worked on one area, I was on the opposite side pulling up the carpet. All I have to do tomorrow is pull up the staples that are still in the center of the room. That should take about 5 minutes. I bought shabby chic curtains at Target, but took them down so we could have sunlight while we worked. The curtains need ironed too! I'm going to buy tiebacks for the curtains, they don't look so nice just hanging straight.

I love this color blue, and the white trim and furniture gives it a classic look. I hope my husband can get a good start on the floor tomorrow. Its hardwood laminate, just clicks together. I'll post any updates when I get them!

Craftin crazy last week!

http://weefolkart.com/
I'm not sure how to do all this posting pictures, and writing about them yet! Everything is backwards. I was on a crafting blitz last week while on vacation. The barrette covers I made were from Weefolkart. She has loads of great (to me at least) craft ideas. I'm going to make a shawl out of plaid cotton,an idea she posted a few weeks ago. I have the material, I just need another day to do it. I made the barrettes for Millie. I'll be seeing her tomorrow night, I can't wait to see how they look on her!
My secret pal at work gave me some fall magazines. One was filled with ideas on how to decorate a pumpkin. This was a little pricey, but luckily the pumpkin was on sale at Michaels, and I think the beads and stickers were on sale too. Some are rhinestone beads I had to glue on , others are rhinestone scrap booking stickers that are all connected. I made it for my secret pal, and am going to print a picture to give to whoever has my name,so she can see I used them for an idea. The other pics is my fall, front porch. I bought the mums which havent bloomed yet,but they will be an orange-red color. Do you think it looks ok?

I was on vacation a week ago. My husbands birthday and mine is 3 days apart. We went on a trip to Amish country on Tues and Wed. We enjoy antiquing, and that's how we spent our time. There were 2 new antique stores-one a store, another an antique mall. I browse quickly,my husband is a turtle. He loves to looook at everything. Needless to say, after one visit to a store, he was still browsing, I was done. I told him to be done by 2pm, he wasn't, I was hungry and told him he had to quit! I had walked over to the restaurant, sat on the front porch rocker, and waited......and waited.... I had to pull him away! He returned the next day to finish his browsing, while I went to a craft store I always visit when we go up to Berlin. We do our own thing many times because he lingers more than I do,and I like to use my time wisely while we're vacationing.

One of many beautiful Amish farms.

This gentleman was riding home after work, I assume. This area of Ohio is very hilly. He was riding toward a hill! This is what he does everyday, more than likely. Whew!!!

Birthday party

o
s

The birthday party was lots of fun. I had bought balloons to use as decoration. My son and his girl friend blew some up for me. Rachel drew pictures on some of them-a cat face, dog face, fire engine, smiley faces. She's very artistic. I put some balloons around the island, then laid the rest around on the floor. I planned on having the festivities outside, but as the evening progressed, it became cool outside. We moved indoors, the kids opened the few gifts, then ate ice cream. Our community was having a balloon festival, and a hot air balloon flew by toward the end of the party. What a treat for all of us! Millie and Matthew warmed up to one another. They were delightful. The balloons kept them occupied, and nothing was disturbed!

Birthday party

Today is my family get together celebrating Millie and Matthews 2nd birthday. They're old hats at being 2 this time of the month. Millie turned 2 on August 1, Matthew Aug 14. Amy is my sisters daughter, and my sister died 10 yrs ago of ovarian cancer. My brother in law remarried, and I had some issues with him,and the new wife. I dont care to spend time with them,if I dont have too,so we celebrate separate Matty birthdays. It's hard to believe they are 2! Millie and Matt have separate personalities, that I need to keep in mind. Millie is a little more vivacious, Matthew more quiet-but active! Luke and Laura seem to discipline Millie more, and Amy thinks alot of what Matthew does is cute. She also works fulltime, and Matt spends alot of time with grandparents. But they're both loved! We're cooking out, the weather is co-operative, and I want to keep the activities outside. My friend made the cake, which has M & M on it with sprinkles. I dont think we'll have more than 15 which is doable! Have a great weekend!

Getaway

Marianne,Susan,me, Marianne,Susan,Diane

i

My trip with my sis in laws was nice. The cabins are isolated from the hustle and bustle of city life. Our cabin was large enough to give us walking space, and privacy. The girls enjoyed the hot tub, I however feel like I'm sharing a bathtub with people I know! We talked about our families, and our life. The downside of the trip was that my sisinlaw Marianne assumed it was a drinking getaway. She had 2 large bottles of hard liquor that she made mix drinks for herself. She put them in a tumbler size glass, and drank away. By the end of Saturday night, she spilled her drink on me,and apologize repeatedly. By that time I had enough! I finished our game of euchre, and left to read a book. I havent been around intoxicated people in 20 plus years. It was a negative in an otherwise good weekend. Susan and I drove together, and we never want for conversation.
Marianne is holding the dog. I think she has a bad marriage, and her animals bring her the love she seeks. She needs the Lord! Then she'd find, and know unconditional love. If you look at the night picture , you will see a star. It was pitch black,no city lights, it was wonderful. I wished we could've had a better view of the sky,but we were in a canopy of tree's. When I'm with people who don't know the Lord, I can see how lost they are in their spirit. We had a few discussions about faith that I hope will help them to think. One thing that I decided on doing after I had time to reflect on the trip, was to send Marianne some cards, that state how much she is loved by me , my husband and especially the Lord.

Pride/Prejudice

I'm excited! I bought Pride and Prejudice movie for my Ipod. I downloaded it too! I've been using my illyptical machine for 16 minutes this week. I watched the movie "The Queen" while exercising. I now can will enjoy watching the P/P movie each day I exercise. Its a little difficult, but I'll enjoy the exchange of words between Darcy and Elizabeth. I think I might buy the music to the movie too, and listen to that eventually.
I'm off on a weekend getaway with my sisterinlaws. We've never done this before! My stepbrother bought 60 acres of virgin land about 5 years ago. He's built 3 cabins on part of the land. His son is the caretaker. The area is about an hour away,in southern Ohio. 2 are sisters, Diane and Marianne. They are fixing dinner. The sisinlaws, me and Susan will be fixing breakfast. I have a breakfast casserole recipe-eggs/ham/cheese/bread that I'm going to fix, along with fruit. We always have fun together. There are antique shops on the drive down that I'd like to stop and see. I'm not sure anyone else will be up for that. I might have to forgo that idea. Diane is a hiker, susan is not! There is a hottub on the balcony. I don't do hottubs. It'll be interesting to see what we end up doing! Have a great weekend! I'll post pictures!

Esther

Tonight was the last night of Beth Moores Esther "Its tough being a woman". Each week she had a different quote of what made it tough being a woman. She had women write their reason for why its tough being a woman. My discussion leader had us do the same thing at the start of the study back in June. My thought "It's tough being a woman when you want to nurture your children, but realize it must stop when they're adults".
Its tough being a strong-willed woman trying to be a submissive wife!
Beths first quote "Its tough being a woman in someone else's shadow" Alluding to Esthers role after Queen Vashti had been banished from the kingdom for refusing to go to the banquet where King Xerxes had commanded her to attend.
Beth brought out the point of God's providence. God wasnt mentioned anywhere in the book of Esther but his hand was all over the book! and events. I can look back at events in my life that I can see God watching over me, protecting me from myself, providing for me, changing the path I was on, re-routing my life. I would not have thought that God was there at the time, but I know now that He was.
Beth really emphasised tonight that women should not be in bondage to their husbands because of our insecurities-will he love me , will he be there for me always, and other worries women have. She wants us to give our insecurities to the Lord, to rely on the love Jesus has for us , remember He will never leave us or forsake us. We worry so much about our looks, but through life experiences we become more beautiful in His eyes.
Heres a quote from her lecture " We think that the older we get the less beautiful we will be, and that's how humanity views it. It's our obsession with youth and adolescence. Time diminishes beauty to man in the human realm, but in God's realm, where we will spend forever, time perfects beauty. Our thinking is backward, because we think that the longer we live here the more our beauty is diminished. We cannot believe how beautiful , in all o f those seasons, all those difficult times , all those stabs in the dark will be put together by God. Because beauty in God's realm is not a treatment. It's a destiny. That's what chapter ten of Esther is all about-everything was made beautiful in its time. When all is said and done, all that God said will be done." Beth has a way with words to encourage us as sisters in Christ. I encourage you to do this study if your given the opportunity.

It's Tour De France time, and I'm a big fan. I watch either in the morning if I'm off, or in the evening when I'm home. I didnt watch it while Lance Armstrong was in retirement, but he returned to the race this year. He is doing this to bring awareness of cancer to the forefront of peoples lifes. He's been affected by it and is a survivor. I watched them descend down the Alps today, going 40mp on a bike! The curves, and some places barely a shoulder on the road. One cyclist hit something on the road, and crashed. He probably skidded 10 feet on pavement.
My letter to the editor was published in the paper. I had all positive comments about it!
Just checking in, let you know I'm alive and kicking! Took a break from starting a scrapbook for Grace. I have a few pics to add to Millies too.
Do you know to find scrapbook blogs? There are lots of talented ,creative people in cyber land. I'd like to see their creativity.

I typed, and emailed a letter to the editor of my local newspaper. Its about the current school levy, and asking for more taxes. I expressed what I felt and morethanlikely it will spark more debate. It its published. It's how I feel, which is against voting for it in this economic time. I researched somethings at the school districts website. I dont mind the criticism coming my way, but just worry it didn't sound intelligent enough.
I look at all these wonderful stitchers, and how inspiring their work is,and wonder why i spend so much time on the dang computer, when i could be doing something productive!
We have an ellyptical machine now. have i used it yet? noooo
A friend on xanga that i have become friends with hurts my feelings a little. i message her to see how she is doing, and she pretty much types what she blogs..... i think its copied and pasted into the message. i wonder why. i thought the friendship was deeper than that. everyone else i've met are sincere, and genuine. this has happened many times. wont confront her though, because she wont respond.
severe weather headed our way. i enjoy thunder and lightening! if its too close its scary.
i think i'll get off here, and put some photos in my journal.
Have a good weekend Linda!

Too much information!

I've done FB for at least a year. Its been great to keep in touch with some of my xanga friends, and family. I've reconnected with some old church friends, updated them on my family, and whats going on in theres. I had freedom! Now some people at work, are on FB.....one gal blabbed something about what I innocently put on FB,and the word was out. I friended a few,was asked to friend a few,and now my private little world has been burst wide open. I hate it! This techno world of knowing what everyone is doin is weird to me. I like annonymity in the blogging world. People at church that I'm acquanted with are on FB and my friend. They know some of my doings by what I say on FB. I think people need to be entitled to some privacy in their life, and I'm realizing that now. I friended people from work, because how can you say no? I think the younger generation is so use to texting,IM'ing, Myspacing, etc they dont realize what its like to not know what someone does in their downtime. My worker friends are in a category ( more like acquaintences) that I enjoy them at work, but dont want my whole life exposed to them! It makes me feel uncomfortable to see them, knowing that they are aware " I went to the grocery store today, and thats one chore I hate",then they repeat it or ask a question about it to me when they see me at work! FB was fun back in the day. Now I dont want to post anything. I might cool off for a while, check up on friends, but leave off my personal comments. I guess thats one way of cutting down my computer time!

I hate talking insurance. Hubby took a call from an insurance rep,and made an appointment, without my knowledge. In this young man walked in around 5pm.My husband is insurance shopping, and wanted information, not a new policy. Being strong willed, and not wanting to listen to the "pitch" I refused to sit in the sitting area. I was busy with a project, and didnt want to be interupted. I finished printing the prints, then took a shower. The salesman still was discussing why he could help my husband, he wasnt listening, both had an agenda, and I had enough! I felt convicted about my attitude, sat down for an allotted time, and finally said I'd heard enough. The salesmen represented the postal union, and actually had me sign a paper as a befeficiary to some insurance that is already a part of the union benefits. I do not like the postal union, they protect lazy workers, and take our money. I just needed to vent!

Our newest grandbaby was born. Millie was a little hestitant untill I encouraged her to kiss the baby. After that she wanted to hold her all the time.

Big sister didnt want to hold still!

I planted flowers and vegetables from seeds for the first time ever. Unfortunately, being the rookie that I am, I didnt label the seeds once they were planted! I had gone to Lowes, and bought seeds, and little peat pod containers. I labeled one container vegetables, the other container flowers. I potted some pole beans, spinach, and cauliflower. I also planted some zinias. I think i ran out of the flower seeds,or might've wanted to plant more beans, and might've put the beans in the flower container.....The flowers/veggies survived my ineptness! Everything is green, leaves, they are aproximately 4 inches tall. The majority of leafs look the same, however I think 2 of the plants are pole beans. The flowers I put into the ground in front of the house, the questionable beans I placed in a space on the side of my house. I'm gonna play the waiting game, and see how they turn out. I have learned a lesson! I planted sunflower seeds that are Martha Stewart brand. The seeds are several years old,and havent sprouted. I had kept the seeds in the original pack, in the basement. I read somewhere that its better to put seeds that are going to be stored in a glass jar, with a lid,in a cool spot. Gardening, like my walk with the Lord is an adventure!

I just wanted to welcome my friend Foxtales to a new blogging world! I had to go back and edit. First I typed Foxtails, that didnt seem right. Then I tried Foxtals, and had to go check my blog list to see how to type it. Duhhhhh to me. Welcome Linda!

Spring is here, and I've enjoyed browsing talented people on the 'net. I have made a bunny today, sewing on my machine. Everything turned out ok,not perfect, but I guess it gives the bunny character. I am going to make another bunny, and learn from my mistakes from the first one. I hope to make more crafted sewing items or stitching . I'm not too productive around the house when I sew,but one thing at a time for me!
